Grub’s up! Insects on the menu in Europe

Fancy a mealworm sandwich? Biscuits made with ground up insect?

It may be time to start getting used to the idea. Dried yellow mealworms, which are the larvae, the wiggly grubs, of a beetle, have just been officially approved in the European Union as a safe food for humans.

In other parts of the world, people regularly eat all kinds of insects. They are a protein-packed alternative to meat. And because producing meat is giving our planet and our climate a real pain, eating bugs could be a good solution.
